WSAPD Winter Meeting

Location: Willows Lodge in Woodinville

Dr. JohnSpeaker: John R. Christensen, DDS, MS Dr. John Christensen is a dual trained pediatric dentist and orthodontist from Durham, NC.  Dr. Christensen is one of a small number of dual trained individuals who practice both specialties. In addition to private practice, he teaches at the University of North Carolina where his responsibilities include teaching early orthodontic treatment concepts, how to manage trauma and missing teeth with orthodontic care, and how to guide multidisciplinary approaches in children with unusual problems. Dr. Christensen is a graduate of the University of Iowa College of Dentistry. He received his graduate training in Pediatric Dentistry and in Orthodontics at the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill. Dr. Christensen is one of the editors of the 6th Edition of Pediatric Dentistry: Infancy Through Adolescence.

Topic: Contemporary Orthodontics Treatment Strategies for the Early Mixed Dentition.

  • Overview of early ortho treatment objectives, when, why, and how
  • Review of early incisor crowding evidence-based treatment strategies
  • A potpourri of cases with a master slide with different scenarios (anterior crossbite or posterior crossbite or ectopic eruption, etc.)
  • Impacted anterior teeth (not canines but maxillary incisors)
  • How to treat displaced teeth due to trauma with orthodontic principles and when to use in place of digital repositioning and splinting.
  • New management principles for children with missing teeth.
  • A review of our UNC trauma team and autotransplantation cases.
 

Learning Objectives: 

  • Define the goals oriented approach to orthodontic diagnosis and treatment planning
  • Review management of dental trauma with the use of orthodontic appliances
  • Discuss the rationale for bracket placement and bone removal for impacted anterior incisors 
 


Breakfast included and served from 7:00 to 8:00am.

Lunch provided.

6 hours CE credit will be provided.

Fee: $350 WSAPD/ AAPD member, $450 non-WSAPD/AAPD member.  

Registration Cancellation Policy: All cancellation requests are due in writing to stephanie@wsapd.org on or before Friday, March 10, 2023. Processing fee of $15 dollars is nonrefundable, remaining fees will be refunded. No refunds will be granted after March 10, 2023 and fees cannot be refunded if you are unable to attend.
